Silent Meditation
What God does first and best and most is to trust his people with their moment in history. He
trusts them to do what must be done for the sake of his whole community.

Announcements
Prelude Another Year is Dawning Tune: Aurelia Wesley/McDonald
Welcome
*Introit Many Are the Light Beams R #389 vs. 1, 5
Many are the light-beams from one light. Our one light Jesus.
Many are the light-beams from the one light; we are one in Christ.
Many are the members, the body is one, members all of Jesus.
Many are the members, the body is one; we are one in Christ.
*Call to Worship
One: The Creator of the universe bids us come to worship; let us come in awe, reverence, and with eager anticipation.
All: We gather in unity with other Christians, for in Christ we are one body.
One: We are together to learn, to care for one another, and to gain strength for our common ministry.
All: We need one another to discern God’s will, and we depend on one another to carry it out.
One: The Spirit of God is upon us, teaching and empowering. The joy of God is our strength, today and always.
All: We open ourselves to the word of life as we lift up hands and hearts to the source of help.

*Hymn Arise Your Light Is Come R # 167
Arise, your light is come! The Spirit’s call obey;
show forth the glory of your God which shines on you today.
Arise, your light is come! Fling wide the prison door;
Proclaim the captive’s liberty, good tidings to the poor.
Arise, your light is come! All you in sorrow born,
Bind up the broken-hearted ones and comfort those who mourn.
Arise, your light is come! The mountains burst in sone!
Rise up like eagles on the wing, God’s pow’r will make us strong.
*Invocation (in unison)
O Lord, when we hear you speak through your Word, grant us understanding. We long for clear direction and would be attentive to the word you want us to hear. Move us to compassion. And let the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts be acceptable in your sight, O God, our Rock and our Redeemer. Amen.
Children’s Message

Special Music At the Elevation Gilbert Martin
Message Rev. Nancy Johnston
*Hymn We Are Your People R. #373 We are your people, Spirit of grace,
you dare to make us to all our neighbors,
Christ's living voice, hands and face.
Joined in community, treasured and fed,
may we discover gifts in each other,
willing to lead and be led.
Rich in diversity, help us to live
closer than neighbors, open to strangers,
able to clash and forgive.
Glad of tradition, help us to see
in all life's changing where you are leading,
where our best efforts should be.
Give, as we venture justice and care
(peaceful, resisting, waiting or risking)
wisdom to know when and where.
Spirit, unite us, make us, by grace,
willing and ready, Christ's living body,
loving the whole human race.
Prayers of the People – Sharing Joys & Concerns
Our Father (Creator, Mother) who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen
Lead me Lord, lead me in thy righteousness, make thy way plain before my face.
For it is thou Lord, thou Lord, only, that makest me dwell in safety.
Invitation to Offering

Praise God for all that love has done; Creator, Christ, and Spirit, One. Amen
*Prayer of Dedication (spoken in unison)
God of life and of new life, bless these gifts that we have given that they may further your reign in this world. Amen.
*Hymn We Are One in the Spirit R #386
We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord,We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord,And we pray that our unity may one day be restored:And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love,Yes, they'll know we are Christians by our love.
We will walk with each other, we will walk hand in hand,
We will walk with each other, we will walk hand in hand,
And together we’ll spread the news that God is in our land:
And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love,Yes, they'll know we are Christians by our love.
We will work with each other, we will work side by side,We will work with each other, we will work side by side,And we'll guard each one's dignity and save each one's pride:And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love,Yes, they'll know we are Christians by our love.
*Benediction
*Sung Benediction Go, My Children with My Blessing
Go, my children, with my blessing, never alone;Waking, sleeping, I am with you, you are my own;In my love’s baptismal river I have made you mine forever.Go, my children, with my blessing, you are my own.
Go, my children, fed and nourished, closer to me;Grow in love and love by serving, joyful and free. Here my Spirit’s power filled you; here with tender comfort stilled you.Go, my children, fed and nourished, joyful and free.
