Music

The Music Committee recommends to Council persons to serve as Organist and Choir Director, oversee the musical instruments of the Church, and consult with the Minister and music personnel regarding music and musical ensembles within the life of the congregation.

Monthly Meeting

Meetings are open to the public and are held on the X day of each month in the Fellowship Hall.

Choir practice is 9:15 a.m. Sunday mornings in the Sanctuary. (Except in summer).

Piano Keyboard

Music in an integral part of our Sunday services. Our Music Director of almost 25 years, Deborah Riley plays the organ and piano. We sing hymns each Sunday and our choir rehearses each Sunday at 9:15 a.m. (before Service). Everyone is welcome to join!

(No choir in the summer).

For six weeks in the summer, we enjoy music by Monteux students during our Sunday services. And we enjoy a Christmastime Handbell Choir concert. Over the past year or so, we've hosted Acadia Choral Society concerts in our Sanctuary.

Our organ: Hook & Hastings Organ Co., Kendal Green, Mass., Opus 2577, 1929, 2 manuals, 7 ranks, fully Unit Electro-Pneumatic actions, now with Peterson solid-state drive, original setterboard combination action; built for the Bangor Conservatory; relocated to Bar Harbor, then Schoodic; saved by Stoddard Smith and Phil Devenish as relocated and rebuilt here in 1988, with additional tonal work by Ed Mickey in 1992.

In 2019 and again in 2020 we completed two phases of restoring our organ. Click here for the 2019 restoration records.
