For it is thou, Lord, thou, Lord, only, that makest me dwell in safety. Call to Worship (A call and response modification of Psalm 23) L: The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. P: My Lord has given to me everything I could ever need or ever want. L: He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. P: My Lord has given to me the best of everything: The greenest of pastures, the stillest of waters. L: He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. P: My Lord has given to me peace, and joy, and righteousness: every imaginable happiness! L: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. P: My Lord is with me even in the darkest of times, when I might tremble with fear, my Lord embraces me and quiets those fears. L: Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. P: My Lord even shows my enemies how much I am loved, I am given abundant blessings! L: Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. P: My Lord provides all of this for me, and not just for today, but for every moment of my earthly life, and again for every moment in eternity. L: The Lord is my shepherd! P: The Lord is my shepherd! *Passing of the Peace (ASL) and lighting Peace & Justice Candle *Hymn Called as Partners in Christ’s Service R. #353 Called as partners in Christ’s service, called to ministries of grace, we respond with deep commitment fresh new lines of faith to trace. May we learn the art of sharing, side by side and friend with friend, equal partners in our caring to fulfil God’s chosen end. Christ’s example, Christ’s inspiring, Christ’s clear call to work and worth, let us follow, never faltering, reconciling folk on earth. Men and women, richer, poorer, all God’s people, young and old, blending human skills together gracious gifts from God unfold. Thus new patterns for Christ’s mission, in a small or global sense, help us bear each other’s burdens, breaking down each wall or fence. Words of comfort, words of vision, words of challenge, said with care, bring new pow’r and strength for action, make us partners, free and fair. So God grant us for tomorrow ways to order human life that surround each person’s sorrow with a calm that conquers strife. Make us partners in our living, our compassion to increase, messengers of faith, thus giving hope and confidence and peace. *Invocation (spoken in unison) Lord God, heavenly Father, in your fatherly goodness you have been mindful of us poor, miserable sinners and have given your beloved Son to be our Shepherd, not only to nourish us by his Word but also to defend us from sin, death and the devil. Pour out your Holy Spirit on us so that as our Shepherd knows us and provides for us in every affliction, we also may know him, and trusting in him, seek help and comfort in him, obey his voice with all our hearts and obtain eternal salvation; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one true God, now and forever. Children’s Message “Counting Sheep” Christian Scripture John 10:1-10 Special Music - Choir To A Whisper Thomas Mack. (David Mack’s brother) Message “Nibbling Our Way Los”t Pastor Jeff Jeude *Hymn Christ Beside Me R. #428 Christ beside me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Love of my heart. Christ within me, Christ below me, Christ above me, never to part. Christ on my right hand, Christ on my left hand, Christ all around me, shield in the strife. Christ in my sleeping, Christ in my sitting, Christ in my rising, Light of my life. Christ be in all hearts, thinking about me, Christ be on all tongues telling of me. Christ be the vision in eyes that see me, in ears that hear me, Christ ever be. Prayers of the People – Sharing Joys & Concerns Our Father (Creator, Mother) who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen Lead me Lord, lead me in thy righteousness, make thy way plain before my face. For it is thou Lord, thou Lord, only, that makest me dwell in safety.
