*Hymn                 Come, O Spirit, Dwell Among Us                                                     R. # 218

Come, O Spir-it, dwell a-mong us, come with Pen-te-cos-tal power;

give the church a strong-er vision,help us face each cru-cial hour.

Built up-on a firm foun-da-tion, Je-sus Christ, the Cor-ner-stone,

still the church is called to mis-sion that God’s love shall be made known.

We would raise our al-le-lu-ias for the grace of for-mer years;

for to-mor-row’s un-known path-way, hear, O God, our hum-ble prayers.

In the church’s pil-grim jour-ney You have led us all the way;

still in pres-ence move be-fore us, fire by night and cloud by day.

Come, O Spir-it, dwell a-mong us; give us words of fire and flame.

Help our strug-gling voic-es praise you, glo-ri-fy your ho-ly name.

Good Cre-a-tor, Sav-ior, Spir-it, Three in One: what mys-ter-y!

We would sing our loud ho-san-nas now and through e-ter-ni-ty.

*Invocation (in unison)

Our gracious God, on this Pentecost Sunday, we rejoice in the gift of the Holy Spirit. We thank you for the fire of your love that ignites our hearts and the power of your Spirit that transforms our lives. May your Spirit guide our thoughts, actions, and words, empowering us to be witnesses to your truth and love in the world. Renew our spirits, give us strength to overcome obstacles, and help us to live in accordance with your will. We ask for your continued guidance and protection as we embark on new missions and continue to serve you. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Come, O Spir-it, with your sound like a wind, quick rush-ing

come from heaven, stir our hearts, each dis-ci-ple touch-ing!

Mold our ac-tions to your will, you our ser-vice giv-ing;

move in our com-mu-ni-ty, trans-form now our liv-ing!

Come, O Spir-it, with your flame, leap-ing tongues of fire; …

of our Christ, the Ho-ly One all the earth is seek-ing!

Come, O Spir-it, fill your church, mak-ing strong our mis-sion;

fill your daugh-ters and your sons with a might-y vi-sion.

Till the great and glo-rious day when the whole cre-a-tion

sings your praise as Sov-ereign One, giv-er of sal-va-tion!

Prayers of the People – Sharing Joys & Concerns

  Our Father (Creator, Mother) who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom              come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and                    forgive us    our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into

  temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory,

  forever. Amen

    Lead me Lord, lead me in thy righteousness, make thy way plain before my face.

    For it is thou Lord, thou Lord, only, that makest me dwell in safety.

Invitation to Offering – As we have been so richly blessed, let us be a blessing unto others through the gifts we now gratefully share.

Offertory             O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing                         Amzon/ Jonathan A. Noel

*The Doxology

     Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise God, all creatures here below;

     Praise God for all that love has done; Creator, Christ, and Spirit, One. Amen .

*Prayer of Dedication (spoken in unison)  Bless these offerings, O God, that the church you have called into being may truly inhabit your love for all the world.  May we bring comfort to the hurting, mercy to the merciless, justice to the violated, and peace to all your beloved.  In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

*Hymn                Wind Who Makes All Winds That Blow                                          R. #217

Wind who makes all winds that blow– gusts that bend the sap-lings low,

gales that heave the sea in waves, stir-rings in the mind’s deep caves –

aim your breath with stead-y power on your church this day, this hour.

Raise, re-new the life we’ve lost, Spir-it God of Pen-te-cost.

Fire who fuels all fires that burn– suns a-round which plan-ets turn,

bea-cons mark-ing reefs and shoals, shin-ing truth to guide our souls –

come to us as once you came: burst in tongues of sa-cred flame!

Light and Pow-er, Might and Strength, fill your church, its breadth and length.

Ho-ly Spir-it, Wind and Flame, move with-in our mor-tal frame.

Make our hearts an al-tar pyre, kin-dle them with your own fire.

Breathe and blow u-on that blaze till our lives, our deeds and ways,

speak that tongue which ev-ery land by your grace shall un-der-stand.

*Benediction – Life is short, and we have so little time to gladden the hearts of those who walk the way with us.  So let us be swift to love, and make haste to be kind, and the blessing of God be upon us all, Amen.

*Sung Benediction                  Lord, Dismiss Us with Your Blessing (vs. 1)                   R. #333

Lord, dismiss us with your blessing; fill our hearts with joy and peace;

let us each, your love possessing, triumph in redeeming grace:

oh, refresh us, oh, refresh us, traveling through this wilderness.

The church’s Hook & Hastings Pipe Organ was built in 1929 (OP 2577) for the Northern Conservatory of Music in Bangor. It was moved to Bar Harbor and to Hancock Point and was given to the Church by Edward Steinbach (1887–1984). It was installed by Stoddard Smith    (of Northeast Harbor) in 1988 and was restored in 2020 by Messrs. Czelusniak et Dugal, Inc., Northampton, MA.
