This Sunday, August 9th, we will baptize Charlotte Carmella Carlson during our 10:00 Worship Service. Charlotte (“Charlie”) is the daughter of Vanessa Carlson and Brooks Rondinaro, granddaughter of Peg and Carl Carlson, great-granddaughter of Charlie and Betty Lewis. Join us for this joyous occasion, in the pews or on Zoom.

Join us at Tidal Falls each Sunday morning at 7:00 a.m. for a 25-30 minute contemplative service grounded in the prayer books of John Philip Newell. No experience needed. All are welcome! Thank you to Nancy Gourlie and Robin Stratton for volunteering to be our leaders this summer.

The Hancock Historical Society will present a program, Exploring Wabanaki Heritage in and around Frenchman Bay presented by Dr. Bonnie Newsome, on August 14. The Museum opens for exploration at 6 pm on the evenings of programs. Programs start at 7 pm.

Dear Members of the Maine Conference, UCC,

Happy August! Last month, the Board of Directors held our monthly meeting at the Pilgrim Lodge property. Many of us took a brief tour of the renovations taking place at the Farmhouse. We are all very excited to be part of this project and to see the space evolve into the new, permanent home for our Conference Office! We eagerly anticipate participating in a Blessing of this wonderful work in October.

Over the past few months, we have been working on updating our Vision and Mission Statement. We formed a three-member subcommittee - Stephenie Michaud, Jerrod Oltmann, and Carol Kerr- to help refine the collective writing that many of you contributed to during Annual Meeting 94 last October. Stephenie, Jerrod, and Carol collaborated with the Board of Directors to finalize Vision and Mission Statements that reflect the words of our members and embody our love for Maine, along with our deep connections to one another and to God, for approval at Annual Meeting 95.

Updated Statements to be Voted on:

VISION STATEMENT: The Maine Conference, United Church of Christ, is called to be a loving and courageous community of faith. We will live out this call by nurturing deep connections with one another and with the world through faithfully participating in God’s inclusive work of love and justice.

MISSION STATEMENT: The Maine Conference, United Church of Christ, thrives in covenant with our ministries as we discern God’s will. We love all people and care for creation and community by acting justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God.

There will be a time to discuss these statements during the Budget Hearings in September.
