May 15, 2022 Messenger

Come, O Spirit, dwell among us; come with Pentecostal power;

Give the church a stronger vision; help us face each crucial hour.

Built upon a firm foundation, Jesus Christ, the Cornerstone,

still the church is called to mission that God’s love shall be made known.

From the National Setting of the United Church of Christ—

In this moment when abortion rights are under assault, please know this: the United Church of Christ faithfully supported access to safe abortion before Roe v. Wade and we will faithfully support it now. This is not a draft for us. This is discipleship.

The Rev. Traci D. Blackmon

Associate General Minister

Justice and Local Church Ministries

If you are interested in furthering the conversation surrounding reproductive justice

please see the attached document titled, “A Brief Theology of Abortion.”

Pastor TJ is available for one-on-one or group discussion for those interested.

Please help spread the word!

The State of Maine is giving $850 to every Maine resident, beginning in June.

In order to receive this check, you must fill out your 2021 ME tax form 1040.

If you or someone you know have not filed because your income falls below the need to file, call the Maine Tax Helpline at (207) 624-9784 (Mon-Fri 9am-noon) or download a form at this link: file:///Users/marydimarco/Downloads/1040.pdf .

You can also call (207) 624-9784 for help filling out the form.

Even though the tax deadline has passed, it is not too late to file for this $850.

People who do not file will not receive this benefit.

Contact Pastor TJ or Vicky if you would like assistance with this.

Please consider making a donation to offset the $1160. that the Church Council voted to give the Town of Hancock for one of two DOT flashing speed limit signs that will be strategically placed on each end of town as traffic calming measures.

If you Chair a Church Board (Outreach, Christian Ed, Deacons, etc.) please be in touch with Jen regarding what information your committee would like to share on our new website.
